Description

Lead sponsor engagement activities with the National Reconnaissance Office (NRO) for the National Security Space (NSS) Business Area. On behalf of the NSS BAE, develop a sponsor engagement plan and lead the implementation to develop opportunities for APL to make critical contributions to NRO¿s critical challenges. Maintain cognizance of and interact with NRO personnel. Coordinate activities by consultants. Lead, coordinate, and report on all of NSS¿s NRO engagement activities.

Track and communicate NRO¿s organizational structure, challenges, and future needs. Collaborate with NSS Focus Area Leads (especially for System Development Performance) to develop new NRO initiatives and projects. Develop an understanding of APL¿s applicable capabilities. Support capture management and/or proposal management functions for assigned opportunities. Write white papers and prepare briefings as required. Perform special duties as assigned by the NSS BAE.


Requirements

Required: M.S. or equivalent in engineering discipline, astronomy, math, physics, or physical science and at least 15 years experience with demonstrated success in a research and technology development environment. Demonstrable skills planning and coordinating technology development initiatives to mature the technology readiness level. Demonstrated ability to work with senior leaders and to provide leadership within the workplace; demonstrated people management skills; excellent communication, presentation, and writing skills.
Working knowledge of DoD/IC space and acquisition organizations, spacecraft, space environment, or space systems. Current Top Secret/SCI clearance.

Desired: PhD in applicable field or 20 years of experience in technology positions showing increasing levels of responsibility. Currency in professional organizations (e.g., AIAA, IEEE, etc.) and publications reflecting skills and accomplishments are desirable.
